Vincent Wilkes made it home but did not survive. His grave is in High Wycombe Cemetery and, because he was a Methodist, he is buried in the non-C of E section on the upper slopes of the cemetery. A brand new memorial, to commemorate all those who have died in conflict, now stands at the Priory Road entrance to the cemetery.
