We Baptists are a healthy lot
And thrive in Wycombe air
You'll be surprised, I think you'll find,
We have so many there.
This church of course is not the one
We had those years ago,
The good Lord's will is often done
In ways we do not know.
The first, of course, was lost to flame
But Bapstist's rallied round
And soon we built one much the same,
A new church for our town,
And then behind the church itself
A school materialised
And Wycombe Prep for many years
Made youngsters bright and wise.

The Clarkes were Baptists and Daniel Clarke did much to support the rebuilding of the church.  The Preparatory School, which was interdenominational, was attended by both myself and my mother.
