The site today


The village hall, site of the rec,
Where children love to play,
Was once a place of fetes and fairs
No longer seen today.
Here the village locals met
For parties, plays and song
And though these times are long ago
The memories are strong.

The village hall on the recreation ground was popular for all manner of local functions, bazaars, committee meetings and so on. It was demolished in the late 60s or early 70s following a serious fire.
