Snakeley House may shed a tear
For Snakeley Mill no longer here
As side by side they stood aloft
Amidst the fields or farmers croft,
And long ago, in mill revolt,
This is where they made a bolt
For safety in the woods behind
With fellow workers of their kind

Snakeley Mill was where the rioters of the paper riots met the full force of the law and after the skirmish fled to Fennels Woods to hide.
