The housing shortage of the war
Always meant a need for more
And this old plot of farming fame
Never looked the same again,
The Queensmead Road that we now see
Was once where pre-fabs used to be.

The pre-fabs were built as a result of WW2 housing shortages. They were eventually demolished to make way for modern (circa 1970s) brick built apartments.
