The site today

Loudwater School was sited here
An institution some might fear,
High windows in the Gothic style,
Red brick the walls and grey the tile,
Large enough for girls and boys,
An education few enjoyed.
But happy are the memories
Of play-time games amongst the trees,
Collecting berries, hip and haw
And growing veg to help the war.

Loudwater School served the children from the surrounding area, including the Heath End and The Common sections of Flackwell Heath - these children used footpaths through Fennels Wood on a daily basis. The school children used the woods as a play area but the railway was always a constant danger, the children crossing via the footpath and listening out for the train.
