A row of dwellings once stood here
Before the Tesco store appeared,
To right and left, I understand,
Were cottages and meadowland.
This narrow road's forgotten now,
(With roundabout upon its brow)
And nothing but the Lodge remains
- Developers have higher aims.


Knaves Beech was once a separate community, lying outside of the village of Loudwater and on the way to Wooburn Moor. Apart from Burleighfield Lodge, the roof of which can be seen top right of the modern photo, none of these earlier dwellings remain. Most were demolished during the development of the M40 slip road and the Tesco store.
