Aveling Lodge stood at the top of Aveling Road where the modern office complex now stands. It was named after Martha Aveling, the wife of William Vincent Baines. The Baines family were linked to the Treachers, the Drewetts, the Beasleys and the Griffits through various advantageous marriages.
