Priscilla Oakley née Atkins worked as a housekeeper
for the elderly papermaker Thomas Edmonds who lived near Pann Mill. She married a tailor, Alfred Oakley,
and moved to Queen Square. After his early death she ran a fancy goods shop at 10
Church Street. She later became the second wife of
Walter Skull, chair manufacturer. (Her nephew, another Alfred Oakley, worked for Walter Skull before
becoming a sculptor of some reknown).
