Thomas Wheeler/Thomas Pearson

I was Private 306571 of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment 1/8th Battalion. I was the foster child of the Wheeler family who lived at Kitchener Road. I am remembered on their headstone as their son but on the war memorial at Wycombe Hospital I am remembered under my birth name of Thomas Pearson. I lived with my foster parents for so much of my young life that I felt very much part of their family and it is a tribute to our close relationship that I am remembered on their grave as their son, Thomas Wheeler. I was killed in France at the Somme on 1st July 1916 aged 29.
