How it looks today


This cottage was a tavern once
Now many years ago,
But it is very little changed
As early photos show.

Like country pubs, it started small,
But as the village grew
They looked for larger premises
As landlords often do.

So this became a home once more
But still retained its name
(Though now it has an 'old' in front
Which isn't quite the same).

The old Green Dragon was situated further down Green Dragon Lane and one imagines that it grew too small for its clientele. The later Green Dragon took its place on the corner of Blind Lane and Green Dragon Lane.
