Spirit's Field

As it may have looked once

The location of the footpath today


This land which once was 'Grubbins',
Where the Fifties houses stand,
Was also known as 'Spirit's Field'
And this was haunted land.
A footpath took you to the Marsh
Through deep, dark, Fennels Wood
And here a spirit barred your way
And scared you if it could.
Perhaps it was a helpful ghost
Who knew a safer walk
And tried to help you for the best
Although it couldn't talk.

The Spirit of Spirit's Field tries to stop you from walking along the footpath which once crossed the fields here. It was a short cut which took you through Fennels Wood and then over the fields to Wycombe Marsh.
