This land, once part of nearby farm,
Is now a modern lane
The drive, however, still reveals
The reason for its name,
For meadowland was all about
For cow, or pig, or horse
And hay was needed, naturally,
To feed them all of course.
And cows do well on chalkland hills,
At least so I've been told,
And makes them into sturdy beasts
Before their milk is sold.
Early maps show this area to be meadowland belonging to Northern Woods Farm.
