Fennels Farm stories

Folk drawing

Malcolm Ludlow born 1930s
There were tall elms down Swains Lane. It was a narrow road and they pulled them down in the road widening. There was an orchard that went down to Arthur Wilks' house and it went back as far as the Legion. It was a great big orchard. Les Sarney had a farm, opposite, where Fennels Farm Way is now but it was owned by Arthur Wilks, the orchard and everything, and he drove his cows into the meadow there, under the trees. Then Cass had a petrol station there. Where the Legion is now was two cottages. Tom Aldridge lived there and old Margot, opposite Jennings. She used to help old Stan with his milk round.
