Chettles was the place for sweets,
Where you could buy your weekly treats
From all the sweet jars stored inside,
And where you'd feel quite justified
To only have an ounce or two
From all those jars of rainbow hue.
Sherbert lemons, chocolate mice,
Peanut brittle, very nice,
No wonder that our teeth today
Show evidence of tooth decay!
Chettles was a popular newsagents and sweet shop. Part of the original building remains but the extension on the right hand side,
when facing the building, has now been demolished.
