There was an orchard here and my uncles advised them what cherry trees to grow here. They grew marrow stem here too with very large stems.
Then it all got grubbed up when they built the houses. I worked on them when they were built in the 50s. Swindon’s built the houses round Buckingham Way.
There were Geordies building here and local men building up by Oakwood, by the hostel.
