Dr Bailey and his wife lived at Clayfields here,
A family home with lengthy drive and stables at the rear.
Son of Selborne Bailey, the doctor of Bourne End,
The younger Doctor Bailey helped Flackwell folk to mend.
Both the Doctors Bailey had thrived in Chiltern air,
Likewise their patients also thrived within their tender care.
Selborne had a chauffeur, who drove him every mile
But his son, who loved his horses, would trot to you in style.
Wealthy was their background but they cared about the poor
And if you needed medicine you still went to their door.
Many are the memories of how they saved the day
And helped a sickly family who simply couldn't pay.
Dr Alison Bailey once lived here. The house is still here today and has commanding views over the Wooburn valley. Alison's father, Selborne Bailey, lived in Bourne End in a similarly large house.
