Land in the village

The Carrington family owned land in Flackwell Heath and still own land in the area today. They had close links with the village and Carrington School was built on Lady Carrington's recreation ground.
Viscount Wendover, the son of Charles Robert Carrington, First Marquess of Lincolnshire, lived at Wycombe Abbey (now Wycombe Abbey School) and also at Daws Hill House (off Daws Hill Lane). You can see the foundation stone which he laid there when he was only four.
He is therefore remembered on the Flackwell Heath war memorial as a mark of village respect. Wendover Way, on the Rye, is also named after him.
