The Beech Tree


As it once looked (picture from SWOP website)	and as it looks today

This long gone pub no longer stands,
The scene is from another land,
How quiet it looks beside the lane
Within Knaves Beech, so hence its name.
What did they know, way back in time,
Of motorway or railway line,
Of superstore or roundabout?
All things that they had lived without.

The Beech Tree pub was demolished when this area became the junction for the M40. Only the slight rise in the road would indicate where it once stood.
