St Peter's Church

The church today

This church has seen designer's art
And wealthy men their money part.
The photos prove it grew and grew
(The plaques on walls state this is true)
But now, with style beyond a mill,
It welcomes local worship still.

St Peter's Church was erected by mill owner William Davis. This wealthy benefactor had the original church built in a style he was familiar with - so it looked very much like a mill. Fortunately it has seen several changes since then. Originally a chapel of ease it was simply known as Loudwater Church and was not called St Peter's until much later. Do take a look at the plaques on the inside walls and the beautiful stained glass windows which commemorate local residents.
