We
lovely girls are spinsters both
And failed you see to get
betrothed,
Both
nurses in the First World War
We saw the wounds the soldiers
bore
And though we would have liked
to wed
Our
place was by the soldier's
bed.
But
I have sisters near at hand
So by a cradle often
stand
And
though a childless life is sad
I don't suppose my life is bad.
Florence
was the sister of Lena, Mabel and Elsie Nicholson. She was a nurse in
the First World War and travelled to Egypt.
