Jennings stables
Juniper Lane

Juniper Lane today

Jennings was for horses,
And every girlhood dream,
To trot along the pathways
And be held in high esteem.

To ride that longed-for pony
And to brush its chestnut coat,
And just the smell of horses
Will always win my vote.

The leather of the saddle,
The oats that horses eat,
The hay within the stable,
And the straw on which they sleep.

Jennings stables was a popular haunt for schoolgirls and it was a sad loss when it closed in the 1970s.
