Cottages, here, still bear the name
Of the pond found down this lane,
For lane it was, those years ago
As only Frackle folk will know.
Many a school child walking past,
On weary journey home from class,
Would stop to have a paddle here
In its cool waters, nice and clear.
This pond was then the place to be
For children going home for tea
And they'd get quite an appetite
Before their cottage came in sight.
Clear Pond was filled in during the 1960s building expansion of the village. The water here was not necessarily as clear as the name suggests as the name
is derived from Clere's Pond, presumably the name of an early owner.
